Japanese producer announced the release of series gBDisk RA6, in which entered the so-called silicic disks (modules flash- memory) with maximum volume up to 8 Gb. Series output of this new proudtc is planned to begin during April.
As chip speed of flash- memory of type NAND increases, and price decreases, silicic disks, which are positioned by producer as alternative to disk on the hard magnetic disks, is collected popularity. Solid-state disks have the best indices of energy consumption, noise level , reliability and storage speed. They appear especially attractive in those situations, when large volume is not characteristic criterion, but to the foreground leaves the high reliability, caused by the absence of moving parts.
The built-in controller, realized in the form of one microcircuit gBDriver RA6, takes itself all concerns, connected with the effective use of memory, detection and errors correction . Producer emphasizes that the modules gBDisk RA6 are the first in the branch solid-state disks, which support commands SMART, which simplifies resources control and it makes possible to estimate the state of memory in the process operation, to forecast the date of assumed failure and to in proper time replace disk.
Recording speed reaches 23 Mbyte(s)/s, readings - 24 Mbyte(s)/s. 2,5- one inch hdd resemble according to the size of article. The price of silicic disk with volume 8 Gb is equal to 800 dollars (discussion deals with the familiarizing models, probably, series articles they will cost more cheaper). Among the fields of application the company calls industrial computers, including mobile.
