As asserts the company silicon laboratories, for its specialists it was possible to create the first in the branch single-crystal Fm- transceiver. Article was demonstrated before participants in 3GSM world congress.
The patented digital architecture Of si472x made possible to combine the functionality of the Fm- receiver si470x and Fm- transmitter si471x in one case under sizes of 3 X 3 X 0,55 mm. according to the data of company, the existing solutions are included, at least, two microcircuits and more than 50 external elements; therefore they occupy approximately five times more than place on the printed-circuit board. Because of diminutiveness, Si472x excellently is suitable for portable applications, including, cell phones, universal players, gaming consoles and navigators.

On the layout microcircuit Of si472x compatible with AM/Fm- receiver si473x, Fm- receiver si470x and Fm- transmitter si471x, which gives the possibility to use a united design of printed-circuit board. The presence of analog and digital interfaces simplifies the integration Of si472x into the end products and gives the possibility to realize interesting functions, for example, the record of Fm- program and its use as signal in cell phone.

Transceiver si4721 support radio data system (RDS) and Radio broadcast data system (RBDS). The possibility of works with the integrated antenna both to the method and to the transfer, in the opinion of producer, it makes possible to forego the wire head sets (wire which usually is used in the role of antenna). In the soya turn, the presence of functions reception and transfer give the possibility to organize the wireless exchange for records between several devices.
